Even though I have had a few days off from the real job and I was hoping to get some hobbying done, I've been feeling under the weather so didn't really have the motivation to do much of anything. But on the penultimate day before I would need to return to the grind I started to feel better so I sat down at my painting desk, where i pondered a short while deciding on which miniature to start to paint. I looked at the small collection of primed models that stood in front of me and one in particular stood out over the others. This was the model I was going to start painting today. No, it wasn't a Necromunda model, it was Janus Draik from the Blackstone Fortress core box. I don't actually own the game, I just picked up a few miniatures from it from Ebay when I saw them at a good price, thinking they would be cool to use in a Necromunda narrative campaign or Warhammer 40K RPG, or at the very least fun to paint. I have already posted images of the Ratling twins from the game that I have painted earlier. Also what is there not to like about this miniature, he stands opulently with his extravagant fur from a strange off world beast thrown over his shoulders, he wears a fine navy coloured long coat with a red inside that shows at it's collar, in his left hand he holds his ornatley decorative sword and in is right, not another weapon but a pipe with it's end smoking. He was really great to paint and I thoroughly enjoy getting some paint on him. I kept to the box art from the game just in case I ever get to use him for his intended purpose as a friend does have the game. The detail on his face was amazing and I tried my best to capture that in my brushwork. I think I altogether spent far too much time painting the fur, building up layers of various shades of washes until I was happy with the effect I had achieved. Overall I'm very happy with him and was glad that he was the miniature that I decided to paint. Now I will need to make a customer Fighter Card for Necromunda for him.
