I think if you collect Warhammer miniatures there are a few miniatures in their range that should be in every collection. Gotrex Gurnission is one of them in my opinion, a character made famous by his collection of stories from the Black Library novel series. With my miniature I decided to perminatly mount him on the display base option, which has all the dead Skavern and scattered and discarded weaponry and barrel debris. This version of the miniature is mounted on a 40mm base. Once assembled and glued into place on the base I primed him with Chaos Black spray, taking care to ensure the paint covered all the nocks and crannies. The next day II set to work, starting with painting all the silver metallic parts of the model which I then gave a Nuln Oil wash, the scatter weapon blades also received a Agrax Earthshade wash applied over this. I then painted the other metallic parts of the model and shaded them with the appropriate shades. Once the washes had dried I highlighted all the metallic details before moving onto his bright orange hair. Then moved onto his flesh and then clothing. I decided not to free hand his tattoos as I tried a few attempts and wasn't happy with them. I may return to this detail at another time. Once Gotrex was considered done I spent time picking out all the non metallic details on the scenic base, the Skavern, the barrels and broken wood, the shields and other non metallic detail. Once completed I gave the model a few coats of varnish and then carefully added some texture and a small bit of vegetation to the base. I was really happy with how he turned out in the end and although I'm sure he will never get used on the tabletop in any kind of game, I'm glad I have painted the model and have him to display with my other models in my miniature's display cabinet.
