Month in Review: December 2021

What did I buy?

Again December was another awesome month for Necromunda releases. Firstly there was the new Book of Outcast, a volume that dealt with all the unassigned gangers. There was also a new Zone Mortalis terrain kit, the Underhive Market. Not new but as I was running low on the Underhive bases I picked up a pack of each of the 25mm and 32mm to my Necromunda release order.

Along with the new book and terrain kit, a new gang was released. A box of 12 Outcast gangers. These gangers sold out really quickly while they were on the Games Workshop website for pre order. Also a new pack of cards were also released. The long awaited Escher Khimerix was released from Forge World this month, this miniature received a real mixed review. Hobbyists seemed to either hate or love it. I also added a few random miniatures to my collection. A Genestealer Cults Biopagus as he is featured in one of the Necromunda books where he has a stat line to be included into the game so I thought I'd pick him up. The Red Gobbo mounted on Bounca was a must, he was not only a super cool festive model but he was also a Commemorative Series model, so I had to add him to my collection. Another cool Commemorative Series model was the later released Bawla and Burk, Boss Rat-Killer from the Orruk Warclans. The last miniature was the Rotbringer Sorcerer, a new release from the Maggotkin of Nurgle range. I intend to use him for a Warcry warband.

The last item I purchased was a box of the very elusive Zone Mortalis Floor Tiles. I had an email alert on a website to notify me when they came back into stock. When I received the notification I felt I had to purchase a box. I already have a few but as they only come into stock occasionally I thought I'd buy another one at least. I have a feeling that when I start to build my Necromunda terrain I will use quite a few of these.

What Did I Paint?

I had given myself two goals this months, one was to finish the remaining miniatures from my Delaque gang and the other was to paint th Da Red Gobbo on Bounca model. I'm glad to say even with the other commitments of December I managed to achieve both. It was really fun painting Da red Gobbo miniature and I decided to use Valhallan Blizzard to completely texture the base and I was really happy with how it turned out. A miniature that will probably never see game play on the table but it is another festive Commemorative Series model added to the display cabinet. It sits nicely next to the Da Red Gobbo miniature released two years ago.

What did I play?

I'm embarrassed to say I am still yet to play a physical game of any of the tabletop games I own. No Necromunda, no Warcry and no Blood Bowl. Although I am confident that I will be getting a game of something in very soon. Fingers crossed. This damn Covid.
