Month in Review: March 2021

What did I buy?

March was a bit of a hobby dollar spend month, with quite a bit of plastic crack finding it's way into my growing collection..

Due to the Iron Golem having quite a few alternative fighter that could be made from the box set I invested in another box. From this I made a Signifer, an Iron Legionary with Twin Hammer, and another two alternative Iron Legionary. The other duplicated miniatures I sold on Ebay which reclaimed over half the cost of the boxset so I was happy with that. Another Warcry addition was a Fomoroid Crusher, I love this miniature it is awesome. But with the variations I think I will need to pick up another one. This model is already built, undercoated and dodging it's way up the painting queue. I haven't purchased any Blood Bowl miniatures for awhile but when i saw that the Naggaroth Nightmares were no longer available on the GW website I picked up one of the last boxes available at a alternative games store. Worrying that the miniatures wouldn't be available in the future but then realising it may just be to repackaging for Blood Bowl Season 2 edition. Quite a fun purchase was a pack of resin mushrooms from Green Stuff World to add to my fantasy bases, these have already been seen on a base from The Unmade, another one is decorating the bases of the Fomoroid Crusher. The last purchase shown in pic 1 was a pack of Kromlech Skull Drones, which are basically Servo Skulls. I'll be using these in a narrative Necromunda game in the future.

Shown in this pic is more purchases made. At the end of February I had pre ordered the Orlock Champions and Gangers, and Rattus Tatterskin sets from Forge World. I'm pretty sure the Orlock females will be cleaned, primed and painted pretty soon. Another addition for Necromunda was a box of Corpse Grinder Cult, not really a planed purchase but a friend was going to get them so I took them off their hand at a reasonable price. Continuing with my collection of the Black Library Celebration miniatures, I purchased Valerian and Alya, which was the 2020 release. Last but my no means least, the mighty Abaddon the Despoiler, a miniature I have wanted to add to my collection for awhile. I have no real use for him so he would just be a painting project and a display piece. Overall an interesting and varied hobby haul for March.

What did I paint?

March was a less productive than February on the miniature painting side with only six models painted and completed. The first miniature I painted in March was a Stormcast Eternal that I picked with a copy of Mortal Realms that I found o sale in a comic store. Not wanting to go for the tradition golden armour colour scheme I went for an alternative paint scheme. I also finished the last three members of the Iron Golem warband, the Dominar, the Drillmaster and the Prefector. This means that I now have a fully painted warband for Warcry and ready to play once my gaming group is able to meet again. I then moved on to The Unmade warband and managed to finish the Blissful One and the Joyous One. There is paint on quite a few other miniatures which hopefully will get finished in April, including another three Necromunda Hired Guns.

What did I play?

We are rapidly approaching a time when we will be able to play our games again and roll some dice.
