I've never really painted any animals before, and this is why I was putting off painting Macula Slate's cyber-mastiff. The coat of the mastiff was primarily black blending to brown around areas of the face, his behind and lower parts of the legs. Adding to the difficulty was the blending around the exposed flesh at the joint of the bionic leg to the mastiff's torso. Overall considering it was my first attempt at painting a black animal I feel that the miniature has turned out ok. In hindsight perhaps the finial black highlight is a little too light, but I think this looks a lot lighter in the image. Unfortunately on very small areas on the miniature the paint has chipped back too the resin, this is annoying considering I really cleaned the parts before painting. It shouldn't be a problem though just touching up these areas with the required colour and re-varnishing when the next miniature is finished. On the tabletop Macula and Slate make a formidable pair, costing well into the 300s. I for one, if I was a ganger in the underhive, would not wish to see Macula sprinting towards me with his jaws ready to bite.
